The Liverpool manager’s defensive woes were then compounded further by the injury to Jeremie Frimpong in the first half of Wednesday’s game.

Frimpong’s issue leaves the Reds without a right-back, while they still have zero cover at centre-back.
So, the addition of someone like Jeremy Jacquet would have been ideal.
Jeremie Jacquet names his preferred club
Reports last week said that Liverpool were ‘calling’ for Jacquet, but interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich was also mentioned.

Now, a fresh update on the stopper has been provided by Dharmesh Sheth on the Transfer Talk show.
It’s bad news for Liverpool, though, as Jacquet would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge.
He said: “You mentioned Jacquet there, Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. It’s our understanding that Chelsea is his preferred destination. I mean, that’s part of the battle, I guess.
“But the hardest part is clearly trying to agree a fee between the two clubs. We are running out of time in this transfer window.”

Will Liverpool sign a defender before Deadline Day
Liverpool have already lost out on Marc Guehi to Manchester City this winter, and it seems like Jacquet will be moving elsewhere as well.
The window is set to slam shut at 7pm on Monday evening, and previous suggestions have been that the Reds won’t make any signings.
Since then, they have lost both Gomez and Frimpong to injury, with the exact extent of their issues unknown.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now said Liverpool could enter the market if they are able to find a suitable solution.
But they have already looked at right-backs this month after Bradley was sidelined and felt ‘there were no good right-backs’.
