Barcelona got the job done on Wednesday night in the Champions League with a convincing 4-1 win over Copenhagen.
Sixteen teams will be competing in the Champions League play-offs in February, but Barcelona are one of eight teams to immediately enter the Round of 16 stage of Europe’s most prestigious competition.
Unfortunately, there has been no European football for Manchester United this season, following their Europa League final defeat against Tottenham last year.

That means United fans have been spending some of the midweeks keeping an eye on players out on loan and potential transfer targets.
Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, the main objective is to get back into the Champions League. That is a task now facing Michael Carrick as United head coach for the remainder of the season.

Marcus Rashford in the good books as Barcelona beat Copenhagen 4-1
Barcelona had to work hard after forcing a comeback, conceding to the Danes after just four minutes and not getting any goals of their own until after the half-time break.

Robert Lewandowski inspired Barcelona when he levelled the scoring, before Lamine Yamal put the La Liga giants ahead.
A goal from Raphinha added to Barcelona’s goal difference before Rashford scored a free kick after coming off the bench to make it 4-1.
It was a positive evening for the United loanee, even though he didn’t make Hansi Flick’s starting line-up, and he was unlucky not to have scored a brace since the crossbar denied him late on.
Catalan outlet, Mundo Deportivo, reviewed Rashford’s cameo display against Copenhagen and used the word ‘sniper’ to describe him after his stunning free-kick.
Sport also hailed Rashford after coming off the bench, calling him a “game-changer” who “always makes a difference”.
The positive press about Rashford suggests that he has a strong reputation at Barcelona, despite not being a starter under Flick.

Marcus Rashford stats against Copenhagen
Although Rashford only spent 18 minutes on the pitch, the United loanee still had a big impact on the game.
The England international had three shots in total, with one hitting the back of the net and another smashing off the crossbar.
Rashford completed six passes and touched the ball twice in Copenhagen’s box.
Barcelona are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Elche in La Liga. Rashford will be hopeful that he’s done enough to start at the weekend.
