Andy Robertson called Anfield home after playing for Liverpool in their 6-0 win over Qarabag to secure qualification for the Champions League round of 16. Robertson started the match instead of Milos Kerkez just five days before the winter transfer window closes on Monday, despite receiving interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds and Spurs held preliminary talks over a deal, but have since ended those discussions. Roma's reluctance to allow Liverpool to recall Kostas Tsimikas as a replacement for Robertson meant the move could not go ahead.

Arne Slot acknowledged after the 3-2 loss to Bournemouth that Kerkez is one player whose minutes he has to manage. Robertson's playing time has increased over the last week because of that situation.

"Home," he captioned a post on Instagram in the early hours of Thursday morning, alongside a red heart emoji. One of the two attached photos shows Robertson giving a thumbs-up with his left hand while his right hand is over his heart after the match.

The second is of him with a ball under his arm, walking towards one of the corner flags. "Top 8 secured," the caption concluded, punctuated by the check mark button emoji.

Robertson also shared it on his Instagram story later in the morning. Several teammates left likes on the post, including Alexis Mac Allister, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, Giovanni Leoni, Hugo Ekitike, Kaide Gordon, Kerkez, Rhys Williams, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.

Former teammates Caoimhin Kelleher, Luis Diaz and Jordan Henderson also did so, as well as ex-players Ian Rush, Jamie Carragher and Jay Spearing. The latter, who is now a player-coach in the academy, commented two red heart emojis on the post, while fellow left-back Jose Enrique replied to the post with three clapping hands emojis.

Arne Slot said before the match against Qarabag that he is expecting Robertson to stay. The head coach said: "Robbo is part of the team tomorrow evening.

"He has been part of this squad for so many years. I am happy to have him, and I am glad he is available because that is not normal for us right now.

"He will be part of the team, and nothing is happening on this side. It's hard to say anything definite in this world we are in, but I expect him to stay."
