Liverpool have made “initial contacts” with Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga over a move to the club, according to a new transfer claim.
The Reds could do with another midfield signing in the summer transfer window, with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister falling below last season’s standards.
Camavinga has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, with the Frenchman not always managing to be a key starter for Madrid this season.
Now, Caught Offside‘s Mark Brus has claimed that the Reds are among the clubs to be in contact with the potentially £85.6m-rated Champions League winner, quoting two separate sources:
“It would take crazy money for Real Madrid to sell Camavinga,” one source said. “Let’s see what happens, but even if Liverpool try to break the bank for him it might not be enough.
“There have been some initial contacts, but the message is a resounding ‘no’, not for any price,” another source said.
Camavinga an elite and versatile option for Liverpool
Camavinga is a fantastic young footballer who has already achieved so much in his career, more than holding his own at arguably the biggest club in the world.
The 23-year-old was described as “spectacular” by Carlo Ancelotti during their time working together at Madrid, while Paul Pogba also lauded him back in 2021:
“It is a pleasure to see him don the [France] shirt. To score after his first start [against Ukraine in a friendly], that is honestly wonderful. I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that. His future is in his hands. He is very at ease, he is a little dancer. He makes me think a bit about me. He is not a timid person.”
Camavinga’s versatility also allows him to excel both in midfield and at left-back, at a time when doubts are persisting over Robertson’s future at Liverpool.
Granted, Madrid may ultimately want to keep hold of the France international even if the Reds look to break the bank for him, but it is a move that is worth pursuing this summer.
