Liverpool have made a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to Fichajes.
The Reds have had a mixed campaign so far, but qualified for the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night with a 6-0 win over Qarabag, with legendary forward Salah scoring his first goal for the club since November 1st in the process.
But the long-term future of the Egyptian is in question after his fallout with Arne Slot and the board earlier this season, and now the club have made a move to replace him and take advantage of an ongoing contract issue elsewhere.

Dembele, the current Ballon d'Or holder, is widely considered to be the best player in the world after his incredible season in 2024/25 where he led the Parisians to the Ligue 1 title and Champions League trophy, alongside domestic cups.
But the France international is currently at an impasse with PSG over a contract extension, as he looks for a major pay rise to put him among the best-paid players in the world to reflect his status as one of the world's best players.
Reports suggest that Dembele wants around £51m-per-year, which works out at around £500,000-a-week, and PSG are reluctant to pay that, which has opened the door for Liverpool to make a move to bring the former Barcelona star to Anfield.
Despite Slot's position as manager being under threat, the recruitment department at Liverpool have already begun making plans over summer transfers, and a move for Dembele has shot to the top of their list.
With the contract situation uncertain, Liverpool believe that a concrete offer could be successful, and their intention is to move quickly to beat off any competition from other European giants who may be interested in a deal. Liverpool are highly unlikely to offer Dembele the wages he is demanding at PSG, but they are confident that the history of the club and the lure of playing in the Premier League could convince him to drop his demands.
Dembele Would Be a Salah Upgrade Now

Salah is undoubtedly a Liverpool legend, and the 33-year-old has been magnificent for years, but he is clearly on the decline now and he will have just one year remaining on his contract at the club in the summer.
Considering all the issues at the club this season, a move away looks inevitable, and bringing in a player of the calibre of Dembele would be a huge upgrade at this stage.
The 28-year-old is capable of playing on both wings and through the middle, and with his incredible level of performance in recent seasons, he could be a game-changing signing for the club to go alongside Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.
