‘There will be a meeting’ – Romano gives update on Milan’s pursuit of Man City defender

AC Milan are hoping that Nathan Ake is allowed to leave Manchester City, and a key meeting is scheduled in.

It has been widely reported that Milan are looking for a late addition to the defensive line, but with the strict condition that there cannot be a large up front financial outlay. So, they ideally need someone available in a low-cost deal, or a loan with option to buy formula.

The name that has emerged in the past few days is Ake, who is struggling for regular starts at City. However, Pep Guardiola is understood to be keen on keeping hold of the Dutchman, given the injuries that have plagued the rearguard.

Resistance to overcome

In a video on YouTube which provides the usual transfer market updates, experts Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto gave the latest updates on Nathan Aké and Milan’s interest, with their words relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Romano states that Ake ‘would like to play more’ but that Ronald Koeman – the Netherlands coach – would also like to see him get more minutes in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup in North America.

“As of today, Manchester City have not shown any signs of letting him leave, despite interest from Milan. There will be a meeting between the club and Guardiola to understand how to proceed in these final days, but at the moment they don’t want to sell Aké,” Romano adds.
