Liverpool return to Premier League action this Saturday against Newcastle United with injury problems still plaguing Arne Slot. It has been a turbulent campaign for the reigning champions, but they have been much better in the Champions League.

A 6-0 victory over Qarabag on Wednesday evening confirmed their spot in the top eight with a fourth-placed finish setting them up for a last-16 tie against one of Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid or Juventus.

The summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen has been hampered by muscular issues since joining the club . Ryan Gravenberch was forced to play centre-back in that European clash with Joe Gomez injured and Ibrahima Konate absent for personal reasons.

Alexander Isak and Conor Bradley are the other players unavailable for Slot and that is likely to be the case for several months.

With all of that being said, Echo Sport has rounded up the latest updates on Liverpool's injured players and when they could return.

Jeremie Frimpong was forced off just four minutes into the Champions League victory over Qarabag at Anfield. The Netherlands international received treatment for what looked to be a hamstring issue, with the decision made for him to be replaced by Wataru Endo. After the win, Slot said: " He will be out for a period of time. If you have a problem and have to go off like that, that usually tells you straight away. "Let's wait and see what the upcoming days can bring." Frimpong's spell on the sidelines is not expected to be a short one, with further details set to emerge in the coming days. Joe Gomez was substituted in the first half of Liverpool's defeat to Bournemouth this past weekend. It looked to be another problem for the defender, but Arne Slot stated he will be back sooner rather than later. He said: "No, not really [clear when he will be back]. But I can confirm that he is not available for tomorrow evening. I expect him back in a relatively short time." Considering Slot's update, Gomez could be back for the clash against Newcastle United this weekend. If not, he will likely return the following week when Liverpool host Manchester City. Ibrahima Konate has missed Liverpool's last three matches due to personal reasons following the tragic death of his father. He could potentially return for the Newcastle clash on Saturday. Arne Slot said recently: "Of course, I spoke to him, and if you know why he is not here, we know that he is having a hard time. "I'm hoping and expecting him back soon, but also not for tomorrow evening's game." (Image: Phil Oldham/Shutterstock) 3 of 6
