Exit-linked Liverpool star teases Anfield stay as Hugo Ekitike makes Marc Guehi joke on Instagram

Liverpool fans are hopeful this player won’t be leaving Anfield after his latest social media post

Liverpool players have been active on social media following their dominant win over Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Reds breezed to a 6-0 win to secure their place in the next round of the tournament. Despite a couple of shaky results in Europe, the six-time champions turned their campaign around and finished the league phase in third place.

Liverpool now wait to find out who their round of 16 opponents will be. The four possible options are Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Galatasaray and Juventus, who will be battling it out in the play-offs.

Andy Robertson hints he could be staying at Liverpool

Andy Robertson has stirred up speculation over his future and whether it remains with Liverpool or not.

Robertson posted some images of himself during the Qarabag game to celebrate the win. The first photo is of him showing appreciation to the fans at full-time, with one hand on his chest where the club badge would be.

Robertson captioned the post ‘Home’, along with a red heart, followed by ‘Top eight secured’. Fans have already asked in the comments whether by referring to Anfield as home, he is hinting that he will be staying at Liverpool.

Only time will tell if Robertson goes ahead with a move to Spurs or if he signs a new deal with the Reds.

Hugo Ekitike makes Marc Guehi transfer joke

Fans have been talking about Liverpool’s current defensive issues as the Qarabag clash showed the backline stripped down to its bare bones. Wataru Endo was forced on to replace Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, while Ryan Gravenberch started the game alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Gravenberch uploaded his own Instagram post to celebrate the Champions League win, and many have lauded his efforts as makeshift centre-back, including his teammates.

Dominik Szoboszlai responded ‘My CB’, which had a lot of fans laughing and praising his performance. One supporter referred to Gravenberch as the ‘Dutch Marc Guehi’, which is a joke Hugo Ekitike also seemed to make.

The striker, who contributed a goal and an assist against Qarabag, commented: “Guehi!!” with a laughing emoji in response to Gravenberch’s shift at centre-back. More than 600 people have replied to Ekitike’s quip.

Liverpool don’t have to wait long before they come up against former transfer target Guehi. After he snubbed the Reds for Manchester City, he will face the side he almost joined on February 8th when Pep Guardiola’s side visit Anfield.
