Report: Man Utd officials now in Germany to hijack £40m Arsenal target

Manchester United officials have reportedly been spotted in Germany as they look to intensify their move to sign a Bundesliga star this summer.

Man Utd officials in Germany to intensify summer move

Whilst the pressure has been lifted by Michael Carrick's stunning back-to-back victories over Manchester City and Arsenal, there's still no denying that INEOS simply cannot afford to get things wrong in the next five months. They were already forced to scrap plans with Ruben Amorim, who endured a nightmare tenure, and now have the chance to get things right at the second time of asking. The question that everyone is asking right now is whether it will be Carrick in charge beyond his interim spell. The former Man United midfielder has been nothing short of perfect so far and has earned plenty of praise from Gary Neville as a result.

The Sky Sports pundit and Old Trafford legend said last weekend: "The intensity, the compactness, the aggression of the defending, their willingness to get behind the ball together and be difficult to beat and dig in when you're in difficult moments of the game. And there was more of that [against Arsenal] than there was against City. "I thought they played better football against City, but they were always going to have to dig in [at Arsenal] more. But the big thing for me is that they've got a threat up front. "They've got a group of players who are talented up front, who are also getting back and helping their defenders, who are digging in."

If it is to be Carrick beyond this season, then Man United will have to match their transfer plans to his 4-2-3-1 system. Already, links are emerging with Cole Palmer in what would be a shock move, but it could be a Bundesliga star who arrives before anyone. According to TeamTalk, Man United officials are in Germany to intensify their move for Nathaniel Brown, who is valued at more than £40m by Eintracht Frankfurt. Arsenal have been lining Brown up in case Piero Hincapié does not join permanently, but United appear to have jumped them in the queue.

£40m Brown could end Shaw's Man Utd career

Man United have been overdue a consistent left-back for quite some time. As experienced as Luke Shaw is, his injury history has made him an unreliable option over the years and it's about time the Red Devils found a replacement, especially if they are to use a 4-2-3-1 system going forward.

It seemed as though that replacement could be Patrick Dorgu, but he's been such a revelation at right-wing that he may have just earned himself a position change.

A new Michael Carrick-esque midfielder needs to be on the agenda at Manchester United.

Now, Brown has emerged as a potential contender. United's scouts were reportedly in Germany this week to watch the left-back in action against Tottenham Hotspur, as his side endured a tough night in an eventual 2-0 defeat, and have stepped-up their interest in an attempt to get ahead of Arsenal in the coming months. Timmo Hardung - Frankfurt's sporting director - will be well aware of the interest and knows just how talented Brown is, having told reporters when asked about the 22-year-old: "Nathaniel is a very talented and dynamic player who, despite his young age, gives off a very mature impression on and off the pitch."
