It could be a very busy end to the January transfer window for Chelsea and their new manager Liam Rosenior.
Chelsea have missed out on Douglas Luiz, but they could still end up adding to their squad.
Ideally, Chelsea would like to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, but the French club are playing hardball. They remain reluctant to sell the 20-year-old this month.
DISCUSS: Chelsea need Rudiger more than they need Jacquet. 👀
It just makes sense…

As a result, it appears that the Blues are thinking about recalling one of their loan players.

Chelsea could recall Mamadou Sarr
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Chelsea thought about bringing Mamadou Sarr back to the club but went with Aaron Anselmino instead.
Sarr is currently on loan at Strasbourg, while Anselmino was at Borussia Dortmund before Chelsea recalled him.
With the Conference League holders struggling to get a deal for Jacquet over the line, the feeling was that Anselmino was being brought back to strengthen the central defence, ruling out a Sarr return.
However, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Sarr could still be recalled and added to Rosenior’s squad, while Anselmino replaces him at Strasbourg.
Everything is up in the air at the moment, but it does look like Rosenior will have another centre-back to count on for the rest of the season.

Mamadou Sarr recall not necessary
Chelsea have Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong and now Anselmino.
What crazy tactic do you see Liam Rosenior using next? 👀

Sarr is enjoying his loan spell at Strasbourg, so there seems little point in recalling the Senegal international and halting his development when Anselmino has already been brought back.
With all of those other names still at Stamford Bridge, you would not expect Sarr to get much game time this season.
Ultimately, with those central defenders at Rosenior’s disposal and Anselmino available for selection, it is just not necessary to disrupt Sarr’s loan, especially when it is going so well. What Chelsea do from this point on will be interesting to see.
