When it comes to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s saga with the Milwaukee Bucks heading into the 2026 NBA trade deadline, everyone seems to have an opinion about where he should land next and what the transaction should look like, among others.
Former Milwaukee big man Robin Lopez also has a take on the matter following the news that the Bucks are finally willing to hear offers for the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
“I really think Giannis personality meshes with the Miami Heat,” said Lopez on NBA on TV on Wednesday. “I think they both have that intense drive, intense passions to get a championship by any means necessary.”

Will the Bucks send Antetokounmpo to South Beach?
The Heat have been one of the teams Antetokounmpo ismost frequently linked to, and it appears that Miami also has the trade chips to convince Milwaukee to get such an enormous deal done.
Miami has young, talented assets like Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic and Kel’el Ware.
The Heat also haveTyler Herro, who is no stranger to Milwaukee. After all, he was born there.
The Antetokounmpo situation seems to be getting more fluid each passing day, and things could escalate once any of the major teams start making a move.
Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with a calf strain injury, but that shouldn’t be a deterrent for teams looking to win theGiannis sweepstakes.
Miami has not won an NBA title since 2013, when the team was still powered by the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. As constructed, the Heat are playoff contenders, but having Antetokounmpo should make them an even bigger threat to the rest of the league.
Aside from the Heat, the Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors are also often mentioned as top landing spot candidates for the “Greek Freak.”
