Several signs suggest that LeBron could be playing his final season with the Lakers—or even the final season of his career. At the same time, rumors have surfaced about a potential return to the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish his career where it began.

ESPN insider Brian Windhorst also pointed to another key factor that could push LeBron to consider leaving the Lakers next season if he decides to enter a historic 24th NBA season.

According to Windhorst, the Lakers are expected to ask LeBron James to take a "significant" pay cut if he wants to return next season.

"The Lakers are almost certainly going to ask him to take a pay cut, potentially a significant one," Windhorst reported on ESPN's Get Up show.

The 41-year-old legend has played 29 games this season, averaging 22 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.9 rebounds in 33 minutes per game.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are currently sitting fifth in the Western Conference with a 28–18 record.
