Official: Barcelona confirm reserve team defender’s transfer to MLS club

FC Barcelona have officially announced that Barça Atletic defender Mamadou Mbacke Fall will leave the club to join St. Louis City in the MLS with immediate effect.

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with St. Louis City for the transfer of

Mamadou Mbacke Fall to the American club,” the club statement read.

The 23-year-old defender’s contract with the club stood to expire at the end of the ongoing season, and as such, they have let him leave without a transfer fee, but retained a percentage of any future sale from the MLS outfit.

“The club retains a percentage of any future sale of the Senegalese defender, who ends his two-and-a-half-season spell with the Blaugrana and returns to MLS.”

Mbacke joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023, initially arriving on loan from Los Angeles FC, before his move was made permanent a year later.

During his time with the Catalans, the Senegalese defender represented Barça Atletic, featuring 59 times for the reserve team.

While he was on the radars of Hansi Flick and even trained with the senior setup on a few occasions, he never made his first-team debut.
