Widespread reports have confirmed that Liverpool will not conduct any January business despite suffering a series of defensive injuries that have left Arne Slot’s squad stretched thin heading into the final days of the transfer window
The Reds have been hit particularly hard at right-back, with Jeremie Frimpong ruled out until late February after suffering his third hamstring injury of the season during Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Qarabag. Conor Bradley is also out for the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery on significant knee ligament damage sustained against Arsenal.
However, there just may be something for the summer.
Brighton attacking midfielder Brajan Gruda has openly admitted he dreams of playing for Liverpool in the future, telling Sky Germany: “My biggest dream is to play in the Champions League and be a full international. I want to play for a top club like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Liverpool.”
The 21-year-old German winger joined the Seagulls in a £27 million deal from Mainz in summer 2024 but has struggled to establish himself on the south coast. He has registered one goal and one assist in 18 Premier League appearances, mostly coming off the bench.
Gruda’s frank admission is particularly interesting given he had the opportunity to join Bayern Munich before moving to the Premier League. When asked about interest from the Bavarian giants, he confirmed: “Of course, there was interest at the beginning. But I can’t say more than that.”
Instead, Brighton won the race for his signature 18 months ago, with Gruda explaining: “The deciding factor for me was that the club and the manager wanted me. That was a very good sign when I arrived. I was very impressed with the training facilities, the staff, and the manager.”
The versatile attacker was heavily linked with Liverpool during his breakthrough season at Mainz, where he notched four goals and three assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances.
