Nuno Espirito Santo defends Chelsea as West Ham boss rejects criticism they have faced all season

Chelsea have another London derby this weekend, taking on Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United.

Last Sunday, Chelsea played and beat Crystal Palace 3-1, which followed their 2-0 win over Brentford.

Since those two London derbies, Liam Rosenior has taken his side to Naples to face Napoli in the Champions League.

What crazy tactic do you see Liam Rosenior using next? 👀

The outcome of that fixture was another victory for Chelsea, who won 3-2 thanks to a Joao Pedro brace.

Nuno Espirito Santo claims Chelsea’s squad isn’t inexperienced

At present, Chelsea are doing well under Rosenior, winning five out of six games since the 41-year-old’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

However, throughout this season, the Club World Cup holders have been criticised for having an inexperienced squad. It is a notion that Nuno has rejected, though.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s game, which has been shared by West Ham’s official club website, the Portuguese said: “They have a lot of talent. They are world champions, so I don’t think anyone can say they’re inexperienced. They have brought players in with quality for a long time now.”

What are you honest thoughts on Chelsea’s squad?

Nuno Espirito Santo clearly rates it 👌

The Hammers’ form has also picked up of late. Last time out, they beat Sunderland 3-1. Before that, Nuno’s men defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.

Even so, Chelsea will still be expected to beat their upcoming opponents. As well as Pedro, Cole Palmer was also excellent against Napoli, and if he starts, the Blues will naturally have an even better chance of winning.

Nuno Espirito Santo on what impressed him about Chelsea’s victory over Napoli

As part of West Ham’s preparation for Saturday, Nuno watched Chelsea’s triumph over Napoli at the Diego Armando Stadium and was left in awe.

“They have a lot of talent,” the former Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers boss said. “The players, the way they played against a really good side. Liam is doing well. They have had good results and the performances have been good.”

Overall, Chelsea did play well on the night, although Rosenior had to change things at half-time.

Wesley Fofana was his only recognised centre-half in the first half, and that did not work out. Do not expect to see that again against West Ham or going forward.

London derbies can be unpredictable, but again, you would expect Chelsea to come out on top now that they have found some form under Rosenior.
