Giannis Antetokounmpo's $21 Million Real Estate Move Sparks Trade Speculation

A family-run company tied to Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has purchased a newly constructed apartment building for more than $21 million.

Commercial real estate Black Enterprise shared the news.

Harmony Apartment, the building that Antetokounmpo and his family purchased, was completed in 2024 and is a four-story complex with 56 units. The building is on the North side of Chicago.

Essex Realty Group sold the property to the two-time NBA MVP and was backed by Old National Bank, which provided the company with an $11 million loan.

Antetokounmpo is no stranger to making moves on the real estate front. In the past several months, Antetokounmpo and his team have invested more than $69 million in 186 apartments across Chicago, Brooklyn, and Wisconsin.

This purchase comes on the heels of the trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo and his uncertain future with the Bucks. The former Finals MVP is at the forefront of trade rumors as the deadline looms. ESPN’s Shams Charania recently reported that Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline.

In addition, several rival teams have made aggressive offers to the Bucks for him, as his time could be winding down. A handful of teams that are among serious suitors for the Greek Freak include the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors and the New York Knicks.

Charania added that sources said that Antetokounmpo informed the Bucks that for months that he believes the moment has come to part ways after 12-plus seasons together. A trade appears to be imminent as the former Defensive Player of the Year appears to have grown weary of the Bucks organization.

The 31-year-old is currently dealing with a right calf injury and will miss several weeks. As for his contract status, he will become eligible to sign a four-year, $275 million supermax extension on Oct. 1. If he decides not to sign the extension, Antetokounmpo will become an unrestricted free agent in the 2027 offseason by declining a $62.8 million player option that summer.

All eyes will be on Antetokounmpo in the coming days with his future in Milwaukee hanging in the balance.
