Okongwu (dental fracture) is out at least two games for Atlanta and might only return on Tuesday vs. the Miami Heat.
Atlanta Hawks big man Onyeka Okongwu has been ruled out already in the team's Thursday showcase against the Houston Rockets after a successful dental procedure.
Atlanta Hawks / Schedule
As such, he is expected to miss at least two games as he is unavailable on a day-to-day basis.
Okongwu left prematurely as he absorbed a brutal accidental elbow from Jaylen Brown in the Hawks' 117-106 Wednesday win over the Boston Celtics. The mouth of the center was bloodied from what he sustained, and he seriously needed dental help.
"I know it’s gonna be a long day at the dentist. Hopefully, he has a good recovery.”
With Okongwu inactive and under recovery, Christian Koloko and Mouhamed Gueye are expected to step up in the Hawks' frontcourt.
Okongwu is averaging a career-high 16.3 points with 7.9 boards, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 47 games for Atlanta.
