Lakers share Luka Doncic injury update for Wizards game after falling off court vs. Cavaliers

Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers got an injury scare when Luka Doncic fell off the Cleveland Cavaliers' senselessly elevated court and was down for a brief period. Doncic thankfully was able to return to the game, which the Lakers lost by 30 points despite being within 2 at halftime.

Now, the Lakers have learned more about their superstar's status for their upcoming road game against the Washington Wizards on Friday evening.

“The Lakers say Luka Dončić (left ankle soreness) is questionable for Friday’s game at Washington,” reported NBA insider Marc Stein on X, formerly Twitter.

There was also some good news regarding Austin Reaves, who has been out of the lineup for several weeks due to injury.

“Austin Reaves is also listed as questionable by the Lakers after his lengthy bout with a left calf strain,” reported Stein.

The latest Lakers injury update comes amid the team's annual Grammy road trip, which takes them to several East Coast cities, including both Washington and New York over the weekend. The Lakers had begun to start stringing some wins together, including a comfortable victory earlier this week against the Chicago Bulls, but that all came to a screeching halt in Cleveland, with LeBron James playing arguably his worst game of the year against his former team.

Thankfully, if Doncic is going to miss Friday's game, it will come against a Wizards team that is among the worst in the NBA this year. Washington recently made headlines by trading CJ McCollum and Cory Kispert to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for point guard Trae Young, but Young will not be making his Wizards debut until after the All-Star break.

In any case, Washington and Los Angeles are slated to tip off on Friday evening at 7:00 pm ET from the nation's capital. The Lakers will certainly hope that Doncic will be on the floor.
