Luka Doncic injury update isn't great news for Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Wednesday night contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t begin on a positive note.

The Lakers’ standout point guard, Luka Doncic, suffered an ankle injury after falling victim to the Cavaliers’ dangerous raised court. Doncic didn’t miss much time, though, as the 26-year-old briefly departed for the locker room before eventually returning to the ball game.

Judging by the fact that Doncic played 30 minutes and didn’t appear to be in agonizing pain throughout the game, it seemed to be a given that he would be active for the organization’s upcoming clash vs. the Washington Wizards.

According to the latest injury report, that may not be the case.

“The Lakers say Luka Doncic (left ankle soreness) is questionable for Friday’s game at Washington,” the Stein Line’s Marc Stein reported on X/Twitter.

Things could undoubtedly be worse, as Doncic could have already been ruled out for Friday’s contest due to his right ankle soreness. However, it’s a bit troubling that the former Dallas Mavericks phenom is on the injury report at all.

In an ideal world, Doncic would have already been cleared for action, allowing the Lakers to exhale knowing their No. 1 playmaker’s health is in a good place.

Hopefully, Doncic, who’s well on his way to earning the first MVP nod of his career, is active when it’s time for Los Angeles to go to war.
