Arsenal are set to complete the transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Dutch club Ajax

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s permanent departure from Arsenal is set to be finalised on Friday, Fabrizio Romano has reported.

The Ukrainian has spent the first half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest but his game-time has been limited at the City Ground.

It was reported earlier this week that Arsenal and Forest had come to an agreement on terminating the player’s loan, which freed him up to make his move to Ajax.

Posting on X, Romano said: “Oleksandr Zinchenko will fly to Amsterdam on Friday to sign in as new Ajax player. Deal becomes permanent from Arsenal for €1.5m fee plus add-ons linked to UCL.”

Ajax have failed to qualify for the last 16 or the play-off round in this season’s Champions League after winning just two of their eight games in the competition. They are third in the Eredivisie, two points outside the automatic qualification spots for next campaign’s tournament.

If they finish third they will enter the qualifying play-offs but they are only two points above fourth.

They will hope Zinchenko can help fire them back into Europe’s elite next season after a disappointing European campaign in 2025-26. The Ukrainian player has been with Arsenal since 2022, after joining the North London club from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Ajax interim manager Fred Grim addressed the pending transfer in recent days.

“I hope that (Zinchenko’s signing) will take shape soon,” said Grim.

“At Ajax, we’re very busy strengthening our squad. It will have to be finalised in the coming week. In my opinion, there are still some possibilities then.”
