Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors returned home to Charlotte for a game against the Hornets.

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors have had a rollercoaster start to the 2025-26 NBA season and the are real doubts about the team’s ability to compete for another championship.

Recently, the Warriors were handed a massive setback after Jimmy Butler went down for the season with a torn ACL. Even before that injury occurred, Golden State was struggling.

At this point in the year, the Warriors hold a 27-22 record. They have been actively talked about in the NBA rumor mill recently as they look to add more talent around Curry. However, being able to make a move big enough to contend for an NBA Finals run will not come cheap or easy.

With that being said, a new trade has been suggested that would see Golden State instead decide to move on from Curry.

Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry Mentioned in Wild Trade Pitch

First and foremost, the Warriors trading Curry would turn the NBA on its head. Simply the idea of him playing for another team seems foreign.

Despite that fact, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey has suggested a potential scenario that could see Curry heading to another city.

Bailey has suggested an “absurd” trade scenario that would ship Curry to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2030 first-round pick, and a 2032 first-round pick.

If the Hornets were willing to offer that kind of value for a 37-year-old Curry, Golden State might actually have to consider it. The Warriors likely still wouldn’t pull the trigger, but that offer would be extremely tempting.

On the flip side, Charlotte is showing signs of building up to being a contender in the Eastern Conference. Giving up the amount of talent and draft capital that it would take to acquire Curry would be a mistake.

Curry returning home to the city of Charlotte would be a fun storyline. But, this trade is just a wild idea and it’s extremely unlikely to happen.

Steph Curry Has Had Yet Another Monster Season

Even at 37 years old, Curry has continued playing like one of the top superstars in the NBA. He has shown no signs of slowing down or letting age catch up to him.

So far this season in 38 games, Curry has averaged 27.3 points per game to go along with 4.9 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. He has shot 46.8 percent from the floor and knocked down 39 percent of his three-point attempts.

It will be interesting to see what Golden State does ahead of the trade deadline. The Warriors don’t have much of a window left to compete for a championship with Curry at the helm.

Should Golden State decide that it can’t compete this season, Curry’s future could become a topic of conversation. A trade is unlikely, but it can’t be completely ruled out as the Warriors try to figure out what the future has in store.
