Do you remember these six great wins at Leeds?

Elland Road has been one of our happier hunting grounds over the years, and we have enjoyed many memorable away days at the home of Leeds United.

A number of big victories have been claimed, plus the odd dramatic victory, with some of our greatest players scoring key goals to get the better of the Whites.

Here are six of the best from the last four decades:

February 3, 1993

Leeds United 2-3 Arsenal (AET)

After the teams had played out a 2-2 draw at Highbury in the fourth round of the FA Cup, another goal-filled match occurred in Yorkshire - albeit one that took until the second half to ignite when Alan Smith netted Ian Wright’s cross, but Carl Shutt got the reigning league champions level again.

They then got in front through a piledriver of a free-kick from Gary McAllister, but just as we looked to be heading out, Wright saw a shot from the edge of the area creep into the bottom corner to force extra-time. He would then grab a 119th-minute minute when his shot proved too powerful for ex-Gunner John Lukic, as we took another step towards our domestic cup double.

October 14, 1995

Leeds United 0-3 Arsenal

Three superb goals settled this game in Bruce Rioch’s side’s favour. Two minutes before half-time, Lukic’s wayward clearance fell to Paul Merson who blasted the ball in from 35 yards to put us in front, and on 56 minutes the Magic Man played a big role in our second when his free-kick was nodded on by Steve Bould for Dennis Bergkamp to deftly flick into the bottom corner to register his fifth in four games.

However even Merson’s long-ranger was outdone four minutes from time when Bergkamp flicked the ball into Ian Wright’s path, and he twisted and turned David Wetherall inside out to get to the edge of the box, and from nowhere chipped Lukic to put the icing on the cake.

Leeds United 0-4 Arsenal

In a battle of two clubs searching for a Champions League spot, we cruised to victory. Nigel Martyn made a great stop to push an Emmanuel Petit drive onto the post moments before we took the lead when Thierry Henry converted a Ray Parlour cross to score for the sixth game in a row and hit 20 for the season.

The hosts’ comeback hopes were made harder when Ian Harte was red-carded just before half-time for kicking out at Bergkamp, and we made Leeds pay in the second 45. Martin Keown netted at the second attempt before Nwankwo Kanu added a third after a mazy Sylvinho run, and late on Marc Overmars raced through as we ended the season strongly.

September 28, 2002

Leeds United 1-4 Arsenal

Another glut of goals saw us break Chesterfield's 71-year record for scoring in 46 consecutive Football League games, and surpass Nottingham Forest's top-flight record of 22 away league games without defeat. Unselfish work by Kolo Toure allowed Kanu to break the deadlock on nine minutes, before the Ivorian got on the scoresheet himself with a firm header.

A scintillating turn of pace from Henry saw him beat the defence and Paul Robinson in goal to add a third, and while a star-studded Leeds attack got on the board through Harry Kewell, Jermaine Pennant set up Kanu to complete his brace and record an emphatic win against a strong Whites side.

November 1, 2003

Leeds United 1-4 Arsenal

Our Invincibles-elect maintained their position at the top of the table with this comprehensive victory. Henry began the rout in the eighth minute when he netted a trademark strike by racing through and slotting past Robinson, and then seven minutes later, Robert Pires added a second.

Henry added another before half-time when his rebound found the net after Bergkamp had hit a post, and five minutes after the restart, Gilberto flashed in a fourth. Leeds’ Alan Smith pulled one back before Henry was incredibly denied a hat-trick when his goal-bound shot hit Parlour on the backside who was standing in front of the open net.

December 18, 2021

Leeds United 1-4 Arsenal

Our Young Guns thrived in this clash at Elland Road, with Gabriel Martinelli putting us in control by scoring twice in the opening half-hour - firstly pouncing on some hesitant defending before latching onto a fine Granit Xhaka pass and firing home.

Three minutes before half-time, Bukayo Saka then saw a deflected effort beat Illan Meslier to put us in the driving seat, and while Raphinha reduced the arrears briefly in the second half from the penalty spot, our three-goal advantage was reinstated when Emile Smith Rowe completed a sweeping counter-attack to score for the third league game in succession.
