NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The NBA fined New Orleans Pelicans rookie Jeremiah Fears and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Lu Dort $25,000 each for an on-court altercation following the Pelicans’ loss Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.
The incident occurred after the final horn when Dort grabbed Fears’ jersey. The two players had to be separated, with Fears being escorted to the locker room by Pelicans staff.
Pelicans coach James Borrego defended his rookie’s actions when asked about the altercation.
“Fear’s not going to back down. I don’t care, you know, in game, out of game. Like he’s a feisty competitor. I love that about him. And I think he’s playing well. I think he’s playing well. He’s playing with an edge, especially physically, defensively, he’s getting after it right now,” Borrego said.
