11 free agents still available to sign as four-time PL winner joins ex-Liverpool duo&Man United star

Raheem Sterling is officially a free agent following his departure from Chelsea. The winger mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Stamford Bridge, having not played a single minute of football this season.

Sterling last played a competitive match in May 2025, on the last day of the 2024/25 season while he was on loan with Arsenal. His representatives are said to be in talks with as many as seven clubs showing interest in the 31-year-old’s signature.

Sterling will have multiple options to choose from as he joins the free agent pool and won’t need to worry about Deadline Day approaching. Here’s a closer look at his situation, along with ten other players also available to sign for free.

Liverpool cult hero Divock Origi is still without a club after his contract with AC Milan was terminated in December 2025. The striker played a crucial part in Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League win and will forever be known for his iconic ‘corner taken quickly’ moment against Barcelona.

James Rodríguez — last at Club León

Since leaving Real Madrid in 2020, James Rodríguez has played for six clubs, including Everton. His last team was Club León in Mexico and he is now a free agent following the expiration of his contract at 34 years old.

Kurt Zouma — last at CFR Cluj

Former Chelsea and West Ham defender Kurt Zouma is now a free agent after leaving Romanian club CFR Cluj. He joined the side last September but has left after making just four appearances.

Sergio Ramos — last at Monterrey

Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos is still going strong as he approaches his 40th birthday. The World Cup and four-time Champions League winner left Los Blancos after 16 years in in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain. Ramos has since also played for Sevilla and Liga MX side Monterrey, who he left following the expiration of his contract.

Michail Antonio — last at West Ham

After spending a decade with West Ham, Michail Antonio left following the expiration of his contract last summer. He has since been training with Leicester City, who have reportedly been considering signing him on a short-term contract.

Jesse Lingard — last at FC Seoul

Jesse Lingard spent the majority of his career at Manchester United before leaving as a free agent in 2022. He spent one season with Nottingham Forest before being released and eventually joining K League side FC Seoul. Lingard’s contract in South Korea was terminated in December.

Aaron Ramsey — last at Pumas UNAM

Former Wales international Aaron Ramsey is available after leaving Mexican side Pumas UNAM in October. He joined the Liga MX club after his career went full circle, taking him back to Cardiff City following time with Arsenal, Juventus and Nice.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain — last at Beşiktaş

Another former Liverpool and Arsenal star who is currently without a club. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been unattached to a club since August 2025 after Beşiktaş terminated his contract. The 32-year-old won both the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool.

Serge Aurier — last at Persepolis FC

Transfermarkt has Serge Aurier down as a free agent, while an Iranian report from December claims his most recent club, Persepolis FC are parting ways with him earlier than expected. Aurier has played for PSG, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest throughout his career.

Dele Alli — last at Como

Since leaving Tottenham, Dele Alli’s career has hit a nose-dive. The midfielder departed in 2022 to join Everton but struggled for regular game time and was impacted by injuries. Since February 2023, Alli has played just one game, and it was cut short as he was shown a straight red card.
