Transfer targets: Jeremy Jacquet, Julian Alvarez and Jorgen Strand Larsen
There are just four days of the January transfer window now remaining as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all attempt to pull off some late headline signings. Arsenal continue to be linked with a big-money move for Julian Alvarez and are also said to have their sights on Pio Esposito, Victor Valdepenas, Rafael Belinho, Igor Tyjon and Iago Machado, though Oleksandr Zinchenko and Maldini Kacurri are expected to complete their respective permanent exits today.
Chelsea remain in talks over Jeremy Jacquet, while Manchester United could yet launch a shock swoop to land Blues winger Tyrique George amid reported interest in Rafael Leao and Iliman Ndiaye. Liverpool, meanwhile, look to have been handed a new boost in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich.
Spurs are believed to be eyeing Moussa Diaby and have been mentioned as a surprise suitor for Raheem Sterling, while Jorgen Strand Larsen’s £50million move to Crystal Palace is in the balance after a loan switch was agreed for Evann Guessand - two deals which will directly impact Jean-Philippe Mateta, for whom Nottingham Forest have made several bids. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Ukrainian left-back is flying to Amsterdam today to sign a contract with the Eredivisie giants and undergo a medical, with the deal said to be worth just €1.5m plus add-ons related to the Champions League.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Arsenal defender Maldini Kacurri, an Albanian international named after the great Paolo Maldini, is set to join fourth-tier Grimsby on an 18-month deal.

He will hope to find a destination before the transfer window slams shut on February 2, but one club has already pulled out of the running.
Standard Sport understands that Tottenham do not hold an interest in making Sterling an offer, despite widespread reports claiming the north London club considered him as an option for injury cover.
