Jurgen Klopp is set to return to Anfield for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024

Jurgen Klopp has already hinted at an Anfield return before his one-off comeback to Liverpool was confirmed. He will serve as Sir Kenny Dalglish's assistant when the Liverpool Legends take on Klopp's former side, Borussia Dortmund, in a charity fixture for the LFC Foundation in March.
The match will see Steven Gerrard lead the Reds out at Anfield with all funds raised going to the club's official charity. Klopp, who left Liverpool in the summer of 2024, holds the position of the Foundation's honorary ambassador and March 28 will mark his long-awaited return to the club.
Whilst the announcement of his appearance will undoubtedly thrill Liverpool supporters, it will also prove a poignant moment for many knowing it's just one match. However, the current global head of soccer for Red Bull did previously suggest a more formal and permanent comeback.
Klopp cited exhaustion and difficulty keeping up the same level of intensity at the club when he confirmed that he would depart at the end of the 2023/24 season. As speculation regarding Arne Slot's possible exit last year continued to build, the German didn't dismiss the prospect of returning to Liverpool in some capacity.
Speaking on the Diary of a CEO podcast, he said: "I said I will never coach a different team in England so that means, if [I did return], then it's Liverpool."

When pressed on whether he might one day come back, he offered hope with three simple words: "Theoretically, it's possible."
But a return to the dugout appears unlikely. Discussing his decision to step away from management after nearly 25 years, Klopp previously told Welt: "I don't want it [to be a manager] anymore.
"I now have a job that fulfils me and is also intense. I don't sleep longer in the morning and I don't go to bed later in the evening but I can organise my work much better.

"My wife, for example, is totally happy with it because we can plan things much better that we couldn't plan before. For me, it was never about not doing anything anymore, but about doing something else.
"I've coached 1081 games, and that's not including the friendly matches. If we add those from 23 years, we might come to 1200.
"Then the press conferences, the media appointments. I always just reacted. And in Liverpool there were also the tasks as manager. That was a lot, a lot."
It's entirely possible that the warm reception the 58-year-old is expected to receive when he comes back could reignite something and perhaps spark his desire to rejoin Liverpool one day.
