Tottenham are considering a move for Raheem Sterling after seeing his Chelsea contract mutually bought to a premature end - giving him the scope to explore the market.

The winger has endured a notable demise in recent years with the ex-Manchester City man frozen out in west London. He's not played since his loan spell at Arsenal last season, but is now being pursued by a host of different clubs.

Tottenham are among those considering a move for the England international, who has scored 123 Premier League goals across his career. Despite his associations with Chelsea and Arsenal - two of their arch London rivals - they remain interested in a move, reports the Daily Mail.

Sterling has been unable to show the form that made him one of the key attacking weapons for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City early in his tenure. His Chelsea stint was underwhelming, even before he was cast aside.

But Tottenham are in need of reinforcements in the final third following injuries to the likes Richarlison and Dominic Solanke coupled with the inconsistent form of Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel. Sterling would have to prove himself having not played in the Premier League for a mammoth 250 days.

Sterling was linked with the likes of Fulham in the summer, but a move never materialised. His preference is to remain in London despite interest from overseas. Among the European clubs considering an approach for Sterling are Napoli and Juventus.

Several clubs had enquired about a loan move for Sterling when he was at Chelsea, but the player had stated a preference for a permanent deal to give him the stability to revive his career. He will now get that, wherever he chooses to end up, with the 31-year-old last playing for England in 2022.

Chelsea's statement regarding the player's exit read: "Raheem Sterling has today departed Chelsea Football Club by mutual agreement, bringing to an end three-and-a-half seasons as our player, having signed in the summer of 2022 when he was transferred from Manchester City. We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career."

Sterling was previously named the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2019, the same year he was also named the PFA Young Player of the Year and named in the Team of the Year.
