Report: Man City star forced to call police after Galatasaray game after shocking incident at…

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias was reportedly forced to call police following a shocking break-in at the £4 million home he shares with TV presenter Maya Jama earlier this week. The couple’s Cheshire mansion was targeted by raiders, who are said to have stolen jewellery, electronics and designer clothing, leaving them “heartbroken” by the ordeal.

Jama, 31, was in South Africa filming the latest series of Love Island, which she hosts, at the time of the incident. Dias, 28, meanwhile, had been on duty with Man City for their Champions League clash with Galatasaray. The Portugal international is continuing his recovery from a long-term hamstring injury and did not feature, but was present as Pep Guardiola’s side secured a comfortable 2-0 victory.

According to The Sun, the defender returned to the property shortly after 11pm on Wednesday night and discovered several rooms had been ransacked. He is understood to have immediately contacted emergency services, with officers attending the scene and launching an investigation into the burglary.

Dias and Jama had moved into the four-bedroom home shortly before Christmas and were said to be excited about starting a new chapter together, having begun dating in 2024. A source told the tabloid newspaper: “They are devastated. The house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them.

“Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded. They love the house because it is tucked away down a very quiet street with no passing traffic.”

The raid is the latest by away day gangs, aptly named because they target homes when players are involved in high-profile games. Previous victims include Dias' former Man City teammates Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11.10pm on Wednesday 28 January, police received reports of a burglary at an address in Alderley Edge. Officers attended and found entry had been made to the property and a number of items had been stolen. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”

The couple’s 6,300 sq ft home boasts landscaped gardens and a full indoor leisure suite, including a swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym. The property is fitted with high-tech security features such as a sophisticated zoned alarm system, CCTV and electric gates. They are also understood to employ a private security company to carry out spot checks on the house, suggesting the burglars had scrupulously planned their raid.
