Aston Villa defender Tyrone Minds sends funny message to Harvey Elliott
Aston Villa winger Harvey Elliott, who is on loan from Liverpool, got some rare minutes against Salzburg. The attacker has struggled for minutes since his switch last summer. He took to Instagram after the game to post to his followers “How I’ve missed that. Thank you for your incredible support tonight. Great win to top it off.”
It has gone down well with supporters on the social media platform. Emery was able to give some fringe players and youngsters the chance to show what they can do. He will be pleased that his team were able to secure another win to maintain their impressive form.
Elliott, 22, joined Aston Villa last September on a season-long loan deal. Liverpool gave him the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis to get some game time under his belt. However, his switch hasn’t gone to plan so far.
The ex-England youth international has found it hard to get into Emery’s starting XI. He has been limited to six appearances in all competitions, three of which have come in the league. The Surrey-born man has chipped in with one goal.
What now for Harvey Elliott at Aston Villa after Red Bull Salzburg appearance
Speaking after their victory over Salzburg, Emery shared this update regarding Elliott: “He played, doing his task, well. He played to help us. I am happy for him, as well. It (his situation) is not changing, okay? It is not changing. I told you that his situation is not changing. He played, fantastic how he helped us, but there is no changing the [situation] with him."
Elliott could still end up leaving Aston Villa before the end of the January transfer window. He has been linked with Charlotte FC in MLS. Registration rules mean he won’t be able to feature for another English team in this campaign which isn’t ideal.
Liverpool snapped him up as a youngster back in 2019 after he burst onto the scene at Fulham. He was initially shipped out to Blackburn Rovers as a teenager in the Championship to get some experience under his belt and boost his development. He has since gone on to play 149 matches for the Reds altogether to date and has found the net on 15 occasions, five of which came last term under Arne Slot.
