Liverpool fans are waiting with interest to see who Arne Slot picks to start at right-back against Newcastle on Saturday.
The Reds are currently without a single natural player in the position after Jeremie Frimpong limped out of Wednesday’s win over Qarabag.
The Dutchman joins Conor Bradley on the sidelines, and his absence has led to renewed hope from supporters that Liverpool could do some late January business.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on a potential incoming on Thursday, claiming that Liverpool are exploring their options in the market before Monday’s deadline.
Providing an update later in the evening, the transfer expert shared the results of an internal meeting at Anfield.
Liverpool still looking for right-back solutions
Liverpool are running out of time if they are hoping to find a short-term solution to their current right-back issues.
But it may be encouraging for supporters to hear that the Reds are at least being proactive in seeing if something can be done to cover their injury problems.

“On Liverpool, let me add something,” Romano said on his YouTube channel late on Thursday. “I told you, emergency, because Jeremie Frimpong is injured, Conor Bradley is injured.
“So, Liverpool, even today, internally had some conversations to check the right-back market. Liverpool are exploring some possibilities, they are looking at some right-backs but they believe there are not so many options of quality right-backs. They won’t sign a right-back just to sign a right-back.
“If they find a good solution they will go for it, otherwise they will stay with the current squad. This is the Liverpool position on the right-back. Let’s see how this check will go.”

Reds believe there may be some options
Journalist Dean Jones went even further in his assessment of a potential last-minute move for Liverpool.
Writing on the Ranks FC Patreon site, Jones claimed that the Reds have actually identified a ‘handful’ of players who could offer a fix under the right conditions.
“Liverpool are actively assessing the market for a right-back after a meeting was held on Thursday to confirm their intent,” said the reporter.
“They are determined not to panic-buy, but there are a handful of options under analysis that the club believe could work under the right conditions.”
Quite who those options are remains to be seen, but it appears there could be a final twist in what has been a frustrating January for Liverpool fans.
