Barcelona versatile star trains normally with group ahead of Elche clash

FC Barcelona continue with their busy schedule and will travel to Elche on Saturday to face the side coached by Eder Sarabia in La Liga.

The reigning champions conducted their final training session before the game at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and there was a positive update for Hansi Flick & co.

Eric Garcia trained normally

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Eric Garcia trained normally with the group, pretty much confirming his availability for Barcelona’s league encounter against Elche.

The versatile defender, who started in midfield in the UEFA Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen earlier this week, had to be substituted at half-time after a blow caused by a ball striking his head, which left him feeling dizzy.

As already reported, the substitution was merely done as a precaution and there was never any doubt about Garcia’s availability to face Elche this weekend.

Now that he has been able to train normally with the rest of the squad without any issues, the Spanish international is expected to be fully ready and available to face Eder Sarabia’s men.

So far this season, the 25-year-old star has featured in 33 matches across all competitions, filling in at centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfield. He also has a goal and an assist to his name.

Meanwhile, all available first-team players took part in the session, including Frenkie de Jong, who will be back in the squad after missing the UCL clash through suspension.

Youth players Jofre Torrents and Tommy Marques also trained with the group, along with goalkeeper Emilio Bernad.

Flick will once again be without the injured Gavi, Andreas Christensen and Pedri for the match against Elche.
