“It Would Only Take One Slip-Up”–Bacary Sagna Warns Arsenal As Title Race Heats Up

Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has warned the Gunners that the title race “isn’t a done deal”.

Heading into this weekend’s action, Mikel Arteta’s side have a four-point lead over City, and Sagna says that the 8x Premier League champions will be waiting in the wings to pounce if Arsenal drop any more points:

“They [City] are gradually becoming competitive, today they’re second and not too far off, so the league isn’t a done deal.”

“There isn’t a lot between the teams, and it would only take one slip-up by Arsenal for the pressure to return. So there is still lots to play for.”

Arsenal will play first this weekend

What should take some of the pressure off Arteta’s men is the fact that they are playing on Saturday evening against Leeds, while City are in action a day later versus Tottenham.

Mind you, neither are straightforward fixtures. Leeds have a good home record, having lost just twice in 11 matches, and they won’t make things easy for the Gunners.

City, meanwhile, are also playing away, although it must be said that Spurs have struggled on their own turf this season, having won just 2 of their 11 games.

Who are the favourites to win the Premier League title?

The bookmakers still have Arteta’s team as odds-on to finish top of the table, although their defeat to Manchester United last weekend has raised questions about their staying power.

With City back within four points, their price has shortened to between 11/4 and 3/1. It should be pointed out that Aston Villa are also very much still in the mix.

However, betting firms are offering substantially longer odds on Unai Emery’s side winning their first Premier League title. They are currently priced between 12/1 and 16/1.
