76ers fans erupt over Tyrese Maxey's dagger vs Kings

Tyrese Maxey put the Philadelphia 76ers on his back on Thursday night.

As the Sixers hosted the Sacramento Kings, they needed an offensive masterclass from the All-Star starter, and they surely got one.

In 41 minutes of action, Maxey shot an efficient 12-18 from the field. He knocked down four of the nine shots he took from beyond the arc, and made 12 out of 13 shots from the charity stripe. Maxey finished the game with 40 points.

@Sleeper76ers: TOO CLUTCH

@PauluzRFRM: this is epic

@kevinfire_: 40 pts like it’s normal now

The young guard came just two assists shy of a double-double, and he added fur rebounds and one steal to his stat line. Let’s also not forget about the dagger he hit to put the Sixers in the lead with little time left.

The 76ers avoided going into overtime while knotted at 111. They defeated the Kings 113-111, thanks to Maxey’s gutsy final basket.

A strong season continues from Maxey this season. The young veteran continues to show why he earned the league’s starting honors for this year’s All-Star game for the first time in his career.

This year, Maxey is averaging 47 percent from the field. From three, he’s back up to his career average, making 38.6 percent of his shots from deep, while taking 8.8 attempts per game. He is producing 29.2 points per game. Along with his scoring averages, he is coming down with 4.2 rebounds per game, while dishing out 6.8 assists.

Thursday’s victory over the Kings helped the Sixers move to 26-21 on the year. They are sixth in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers by two games.

The Sixers will be back on the court on Saturday, January 31, to host the New Orleans Pelicans.
