Newcastle United have several injury problems within their ranks before the Liverpool match
and Liverpool could both be without some key players when the two teams face off in the late showdown on Saturday evening. side could leapfrog the hosts with a victory, which would rip open the race for European qualification in the Premier League.
Both teams could be without their full strength squads available, however, with injuries starting to pile up for those across the division. Liverpool are set to be boosted by the returns of Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones, but will likely miss as many as five key players.
Newcastle could also be without five players, following on from the resilient . Howe admitted that there were a few uncertainties surrounding a handful of stars, which could cause a few problems for him to solve.
Those include , , and , as checks continue over their fitness in the short term and the long term.

Bruno Guimaraes is a doubt for the clash at the weekend, following some ongoing injury concerns. The midfielder managed to make himself available to face PSG in midweek, but was an unused substitute on the bench. On his condition, Howe told the press: " It's slightly unknown at the moment. He did really well to be with us in Paris, that was down to the fact [that] he was desperate to support the players. "He did very, very light training. Joelinton is set to miss out on more action through injury, but the manager brought good news in that the timeframe is weeks, and not months. Howe said: " He flew on to Barcelona after the game [against PSG] to get an injection in his groin. "It was good news. The specialist feels he only needs one injection and that means his return could be quite quick and we're looking at weeks, not months. Unsure of the exact date yet, but it's positive news." There was an update on Tino Livramento too, as Howe revealed that the defender is having another scan on his hamstring to see his progression. There is some hope that he will be back in around five or six weeks. Howe said: " He's doing well. I believe he's having a scan today - a second scan to see the progress of his hamstring. Fingers crossed it's good news and if it is, he'll be back out running. "We're still probably five to six weeks away and we're looking at an early March return, providing everything goes well."
