Spurs eyeing move for 82-time England international

Tottenham Hotspur will hope to bring an end to their dismal Premier League home form when they host Manchester City on Sunday.

The Lilywhites have endured a torrid campaign at home, winning just two of their 11 games in the league so far.

Thomas Frank’s side therefore sit 14th in the top flight standings, and Frank is under huge pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around.

Spurs face a tricky test on Sunday, though, with title-chasing Manchester City arriving in the capital as they look to stay within touching distance of leaders Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Tottenham are one of several sides weighing up a move to sign an experienced Premier League winger.

According to Daily Mail Sport, Spurs are considering a move to sign winger Raheem Sterling, who is available as a free agent after leaving Chelsea earlier this week.

The 31-year-old left the Blues by mutual consent this week, ending a two-and-a-half year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman made more than 80 appearances during his time with the Blues, but hadn’t featured for the club since the end of the 2023/24 campaign after falling out of favour.

It is claimed that Spurs are one of a number of clubs pondering a move for the Englishman, who has represented the Three Lions 82 times at senior level.

Sterling was believed to be earning in excess of £300,000-per-week during his time with Chelsea, but the report claims that the winger is willing to play for a third of that in order to revive his career.

In total, Sterling has scored 123 goals and registered 75 assists in 396 Premier League games across spells with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
