Liam Rosenior to make Chelsea teenager a permanent part of his first team squad

Liam Rosenior is looking to beef up his Chelsea squad as we head into one of the most important periods of the season.

Chelsea continues with their policy of youth first at Stamford Bridge.

We have seen the likes of Reggie Walsh and Jesse Derry in Chelsea training, as well as Freddy Bernal making it into the Champions League squad.

Estevao Willian is another brilliant example at Chelsea. Despite being just 18 years of age, Liam Rosenior has turned to him more often than not to play a big role.

If you’re good enough, you’ll get a chance at Chelsea.

And it seems as if Liam Rosenior has his eye on another young player at the club.

Josh Acheampong to stay at Chelsea this month

There had been plenty of uncertainty surrounding Josh Acheampong‘s future at Chelsea.

Bayern Munich had taken an interest in Acheampong and wanted to complete a deal, but it now looks as if he won’t be going anywhere.

Liam Rosenior was speaking in his Chelsea press conference ahead of West Ham United, where he provided this update on the youngster.

“Josh Acheampong is an outstanding talent. I want him with me.”

So it’ll be interesting now to see how Rosenior uses the 19-year-old moving forward.

Where does Josh Acheampong fit in at Chelsea

The one thing that stands Acheampong in good stead is his versatility. He can play at the heart of the defence or right-back.

Malo Gusto and Reece James will be tough to move at right-back, but there has been some chopping and changing going on at the heart of the defence.

Chelsea are in the process of trying to sign a central defender, but perhaps this is a sign that they’re happy to rely on what they already have at the club.

Especially as Rosenior is already open to using Reece James as a central midfielder instead of going out and making a signing in that department.
