Chelsea defender set to complete Premier League loan move

Chelsea host London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League courtesy of a 3-2 win against Napoli on Wednesday night, with a Joao Pedro brace completing the turnaround after the hosts had gone ahead in Naples.

Liam Rosenior’s side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, although victory against the Hammers on Saturday could move the west London outfit into the top four if other results go their way.

Ahead of that game, it has emerged that one member of Chelsea’s squad is close to completing a move away from the club in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

As per Fabrizio Romano, defender Axel Disasi is close to finalising a loan move to West Ham for the remainder of the season.

He claims that the Frenchman will join West Ham imminently, despite rumours suggesting he could complete a move to Serie A.

Disasi, 27, joined Chelsea from French side Monaco back in 2023 and has since made more than 60 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge, though, and spent the second half of last term on loan at Aston Villa.

So far this season the centre-back has not been part of a single matchday squad for the Blues, having fallen almost entirely out of favour under former head coach Enzo Maresca.

The defender’s contract with the Blues isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, but it appears increasingly likely that he has already played his final game for the club and will leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer.
