Besiktas reach“full agreement” for Liverpool defender

While Arne Slot has asserted it would be a quiet end to the window for Liverpool, it seems reports are claiming otherwise

When pressed repeatedly about Liverpool’s transfer plans for deadline day, Slot quipped in his pre -Newcastle United press conference: “Alright, it might be [quiet]. Are you interested in playing golf?” The Dutchman has consistently emphasized throughout January that the Reds would only act if they identify players who can genuinely strengthen the squad, stating: “If we believe we have identified a player who can contribute and deem it feasible, we will proceed.”

While incoming transfers remain highly unlikely, Liverpool could still see some late outbound movement before Monday’s cut-off. It has already been reported that Besitktas have made a loan approach for back-up ‘keeper Giorgi Marmadashivili.

And it seems the Turkey giants are interested in more than one Liverpool man.

Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato has claimed that Besiktias has reached a “full agreement” to bring Tsimikas to Turkey and that they will make a decision on the transfer in the next two days:

“Beşiktaş are currently working on several signings across different positions: A full agreement has been reached with Kostas Tsimikas (Liverpool) and Nuno Tavares (Besiktas). The club is expected to choose one of the two within the next 24 to 48 hours.”

The 29-year-old Greek international joined Serie A side Roma on a season-long loan in August last year, following Liverpool’s £42 million signing of Milos Kerkez from AFC Bournemouth.

But Tsimikas has not enjoyed the most fruitful spell in the Italian capital. He has made just 16 appearances across all competitions for Roma this season—11 in Serie A (380 minutes), five in the Europa League (293 minutes), and zero domestic cup outings. He’s started only four Serie A matches and has been used primarily as a substitute, coming off the bench seven times in the league alone.

It remains to be seen if the Greek Scouser even opts for a move to Turkey, with some reports claiming the switch does not appeal to him.
