Announcement imminent on Arsenal exit – Thursday worked a treat

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s move to Ajax from Arsenal is now in the final stages and ready to be completed.

That’s according to ESPN.nl. The website reports that Zichenko is ready to call himself an Ajax player. The 29-year-old has now finalised the transfer and will be signed by Ajax once the signatures are in place.

All the parties, Arsenal, Ajax and the Ukrainian have completed the necessary paperwork. The final details of the transfer are currently being discussed. He will sign a contract until the end of the season at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Whatever happens, Zinchenko will not be eligible to play in Sunday’s away match against Excelsior. He’s ready to go after that, though.

The deal has finally been concluded after a week of ups and downs. Zinchenko first had to cancel his loan at Nottingham Forest and return to Arsenal.

From there he had to secure an agreement with the Gunners to cancel his contract. But reports on Thursday insisted he and Arsenal were yet to come to an agreement. That led Ajax to issue an ultimatum as they got bored of waiting to get the deal done.

That appears to have worked. Now the final details of the transfer are being done, and an announcement appears likely to come soon.
