£16m Leeds United flop denied Elland Road exit with cash rich Turkish giant interested

Leeds United transfers

Leeds United are up against Mikel Arteta and Arsenal this weekend. The Whites will be hoping to get another result as they continue their fight for safety.

Leeds have a six-point gap between them and the relegation zone. This weekend, they face the Gunners who are top of the table; Mikel Arteta’s men will be hoping to bounce back from the loss to Manchester United. The Whites will be disappointed not to have gotten three points from the Everton game, where they really should have won after dominating most of the match.

In the mean time, news and reports about January transfers continue to emerge from Elland Road. Leeds United have only signed Facundo Buonanotte this month; with the move for Jorgen Strand Larsen having collapsed over the last few days.

Leeds United block potential January transfers for £16m man

Crystal Palace are now in the driving seat for the Norwegian striker, with the Whites not willing to match the £40 million valuation. That is not the only deal that has made the rounds around Elland Road this week; Joel Piroe has been linked with a possible exit. Rangers are said to be after a striker, and have the 26-year old very high on their shortlist, but a move is yet to be made.

According to Graham Smyth, Leeds United have blocked one of the possible transfers this week. The club have rejected a bid from Turkish side Besiktas for goalkeeper Lucas Perri. Per the latest news, Besiktas were keen on adding a new number one and saw the opportunity to sign the Leeds man. It is reported that the Turkish side only made an approach and that there was no formal bid submitted.

Goalkeeping situation continues to change

Since the end of last season, no one has really been sure about the first choice goalkeeper at Leeds United. Illan Meslier was clearly not the option after being benched, and was pushed to be sold in the summer only for him to remain in the squad. Karl Darlow continues to rotate in and out of goal; Daniel Farke clearly trusts him but it looks like the club believe they can do better.

Then it comes to Lucas Perri; the Brazilian was signed for big money in the summer and was expected to go straight in goal and become the number one. However, this season he has had a very mixed campaign, and his recent errors have seen him relegated to the bench. Whatever happens in the summer will be very interesting to watch.
