£80m star now open to joining Arsenal

It's been a quiet month for Arsenal on the transfer front. Their main focus has been on maintaining their title push and managing recent slip ups, especially following defeat against Manchester United last weekend.

But that's not so say Andrea Berta isn't working behind the scenes for long-term plans and Max Dowman recent deal is a good representation of that.

After the youngster put pen to paper, Mikel Arteta didn't hold back his praise - saying: “Certainly one of the best. What he’s done with us at the age of 15, me personally, I haven’t seen it before.

"Only with a guy that used to play in Barcelona but maybe not even that. He has a certain charisma as well and personality that he doesn’t get overwhelmed, whether it’s by the situation or the stadium or the opposition, and that’s a huge quality to have. Now it’s down to him and us to build an amazing career with him."

Reports have also name-dropped a number of potential targets such as Eduardo Camavinga at Real Madrid. The midfielder is reportedly someone that Arteta is keen on and the Gunners could make their move.

Similar can be said for Julian Alvarez. According to TeamTalk, Alvarez is now open to joining Arsenal and intermediaries have contacted the North London club about a potential deal.

The fact that Arsenal have been contacted by his agents alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Barcelona indicates that Alvarez has set his sights on those four clubs if he is to leave Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez would finally transform Arsenal's attack

For all the discourse over the summer that Viktor Gyokeres would transform Arsenal's frontline, their problems remain. The Swede is yet to find his best form, especially in the Premier League, and was even dropped by Arteta for Gabriel Jesus in the Gunners' recent defeat against Man United.

He's set to leave permanently.

The arrival of Alvarez would only make things worse for last summer's signing. It could even cost him his place, for the Argentine would be an instant upgrade.

25/26 Stats Alvarez Gyokeres

Appearances 30 29

Goals 11 10

Assists 5 2

Alvarez hasn't been short on impressive praise, either. Pep Guardiola told reporters when the forward won the 2022 World Cup: “I would say there is not one person who is not happy for him.

“He’s a special guy, with his work ethic. He reminds me a bit of Gabriel (Jesus), how aggressive he is without the ball. For Julian, we are delighted because he played a lot and his contribution was amazing for the team, for the way they played. We have a world champion in our team."

Reports have suggested that Alvarez could cost just £80m this summer, and that would certainly be an affordable price for Arsenal.
