Barcelona star Raphinha has shown his appreciation for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford after the forward starred in a crucial match in the Champions League. Rashford left United last summer to join Barca on loan and has been enjoying his time with the La Liga giants.

United and Barcelona reached an agreement on a loan for Rashford last summer after the England international expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford.

Barcelona have an option to make the move for Rashford permanent at the end of the season for a fee believed to be worth around £26million, with some reports suggesting the Spanish club intends to keep the United loanee beyond this term.

Wednesday night saw Rashford in action for Barcelona in their Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen, with the United loanee on the score sheet in the 4-1 victory at the Camp Nou.

Rashford’s goal came from a direct free-kick, with his teammate, Raphinha, expressing praise via social media.

On his Instagram story, Raphinha posted a photo which showed him alongside Rashford celebrating the goal against Copenhagen. The Brazilian included a wordless caption which featured two rocket emojis and a fire emoji.

Rashford’s goal in the Champions League means that the United loanee now has nine to his name across all competitions this season, as well as 12 assists.

Despite getting on the score sheet yet again for Barcelona, Rashford went on to admit that he has found it challenging adjusting to life at the La Liga giants following his United exit.

"I think for the front guys we have to put as much pressure on the ball as possible because the problem is when players have time on the ball to pick the passes and to see what our backline is doing," Rashford told TNT Sports.

"If they do have time then the backline have to adjust. But it's our way of playing, it brings an intensity to the game. I think when we play at this intensity it's difficult for teams to match us.

"For me it takes a little bit of learning to get used to because you can’t let them rest on the ball. Whoever is closest to the ball always has to put pressure. So it's a little bit different to what I'd done before. But this is the style of defence we play and when it works it's really good."
