The Golden State Warriors find themselves at the center of the NBA trade market as speculation around Giannis Antetokounmpo intensifies — and veteran forward Draymond Green says the uncertainty has created a tense atmosphere inside the locker room.

With the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaching, Green acknowledged that the constant speculation has taken a toll, even as he stressed that he has no inside knowledge of Golden State’s plans.

“As of yesterday, everybody’s talking Giannis. Do the Warriors make a trade for Giannis? This is not the podcast where you find that out,” Green said Friday on The Draymond Green Show. “I actually don’t have a [expletive] clue. I have no idea. I know what you know — exactly what I saw in red, which is the same thing you saw in red. So I have no clue.”

Green Reacts to Giannis Trade Buzz

Green said his understanding of the situation mirrors public reporting, including recent updates from ESPN.

“I did see that Giannis is preparing for an exit from Milwaukee,” Green said. “Whether that’s at the deadline or the offseason, apparently, it’s inevitable and it’s going to happen.”

Green then outlined how the potential availability of a superstar like Antetokounmpo can reshape the entire trade market.

“Well, everyone around the league will be calling Milwaukee,” Green said. “Even if you’re not calling for Giannis, if they’re breaking up the team, you could be calling for Myles Turner. You could be calling for Bobby Portis. You could be calling for Ryan Rollins. You could be calling for a bunch of different guys.”

“If they’re going to move Giannis, they probably move just about anyone,” he added.

Deadline Pressure Felt Inside Locker Room

Green said the emotional strain of trade season goes beyond speculation and rumors.

“Quite honestly, I think it’s a tough time,” Green said during this time of the year. “The stress levels are high. And then let’s look at another perspective: guys that you’ve grown relationships with, that you’ve possibly spent multiple years with — they’re now gone, just like that.”

“You go from seeing them every day to not seeing them at all. And all of that stuff, man, it takes its toll. It’s not a fun time.”

Green, who has spent his entire 14-year career with Golden State, said even long-tenured players never feel completely secure.

“There’s never a way to be so certain unless you’ve got a no-trade clause,” Green said. “I’ve had a trade kicker for years. There’s still no way to be certain, because it’s just money. They’ll pay the money if it makes the team better.”

“It’s not a fun time. It’s a very stressful time for NBA players — and NBA players’ families.”

Reports Suggest Green No Longer Untouchable

Multiple reports have indicated that Golden State is willing to discuss nearly any player in a potential Antetokounmpo deal, with only Stephen Curry considered untouchable.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole cited league sources indicating the Warriors are prepared to meet Milwaukee’s expected price.

“Every player on the Warriors roster except for Stephen Curry is on the table,” Poole wrote. “The general assumption is that Curry is, of course, the only untouchable.”

ESPN’s Anthony Slater was more direct, mentioning that Green could be part of a potential framework, even as the Warriors prefer to build around salary-matching contracts.

“They are not actively shopping [Jimmy Butler‘s] contract, team sources said, but everything is on the table in an Antetokounmpo conversation — and Butler is the clear salary match, though a deal involving Draymond Green and several other rotation players is also plausible,” Slater reported Thursday.

Uncertainty Lingers as Deadline Nears

Amid the trade rumors, life goes on for the Warriors, who will face the Detroit Pistons, the Eastern Conference’s top team, Friday night at home.

Green said he remains focused on basketball while waiting for the trade deadline to pass.

“Right now, I know just as much as you guys know,” Green said. “I’ve read what you read. We’ll see what happens as the trade deadline nears over the next four days.”

“I don’t know — but I know it’s very stressful. So we’ll see.”

As Golden State weighs whether to push all its chips to the center of the table, Green’s words offered a rare glimpse into how trade-deadline uncertainty reverberates inside an NBA locker room — even for franchise pillars.
