Lakers Reveal Final Luka Doncic Injury News vs Wizards

Luka Doncic's setback in Cleveland forced the NBA to take a hard look at the Cleveland Cavaliers' court.

After an awkward fall, which forced Doncic off the court a bit before he returned to battle through his minor ankle injury, JJ Redick publicly sounded off on Cleveland's court, bringing up issues from the past.

"I did not see it-I haven't watched the play yet-I know that he rolled his ankle falling off the floor," Redick told reporters. "There's been a number of injuries over the years in this building because of the floor."

The NBA might be looking into it, but it hasn't changed the unfortunate reality of the situation for the Lakers. Luka Doncic is still dealing with a setback. On the injury report ahead of Friday's action against the Washington Wizards, Doncic was listed as questionable due to ankle soreness. The fact that he wasn't ruled out right away was a positive sign.

Will Luka Doncic Face the Wizards?

Despite Doncic revealing that he wasn’t one hundred percent throughout the Lakers’ loss against the Cavs after the injury, the star guard intends to suit up and play on Friday night in Washington DC.

The Lakers have dealt with their fair share of injuries throughout the year. At the start, LeBron James missed a handful of weeks, getting an out-of-the-ordinary late debut for the 2025-2026 NBA season.

Lately, Austin Reaves has been out of the mix for the Lakers, as he deals with a left calf strain. His initial timeline was set at four weeks. The Lakers were confident that Reaves could return during their current road trip, which spans eight games. Similar to Doncic, the Lakers listed Reaves as questionable for Friday's action, which was a positive step in the right direction.

The Lakers and the Wizards are set for a 7 PM ET tip. Following Friday's action, the Lakers will close out the week with a matchup against the New York Knicks on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.
