Major Jeremy Jacquet transfer update which is expected to happen after Chelsea vs West Ham

Chelsea’s January transfer window has been quiet so far, and the way it is looked at in retrospect will likely rely on whether they get a deal for Jeremy Jacquet over the line.

The Rennes centre-back has emerged as one of the top young defenders in world football, and this clearly fits into the BlueCo model of signings.

Chelsea have elected not to look into bringing in potential options who would bring far more experience to their ranks. They have already seen Marc Guehi move to Manchester City this month.

The Blues have reportedly offered players to the Ligue 1 side in an attempt to secure his signature this month, although they are desperately looking to hold on to one of their crucial first team players for the rest of the season.

Jeremy Jacquet update expected after Chelsea vs West Ham

With Liverpool and Bayern Munich amongst the interested sides in Jacquet, there will always be fears if the Blues are unable to get a deal done immediately.

However, journalist Kaveh Solhekol has stated that they are certainly in prime position at the moment, with developments expected with the deal after Chelsea’s upcoming game.

He said: “Jeremy Jacquet only wants to sign for Chelsea. Personal terms have been fully agreed. Both Chelsea and Rennes are playing on Saturday evening. Expect developments after the games.”

Liam Rosenior will be looking to keep up his excellent start to life as Blues manager with the London derby against West Ham on Saturday. After then, supporters are likely to be given an update on the Jacquet situation.

Rosenior’s centre-back conundrum for West Ham clash

It is unlikely Rosenior experiments with one recognised centre-back again after things didn’t work out as planned in that system against Napoli.

Trevoh Chalobah has proven impressive under the new manager so far, and the fact he didn’t start in Italy suggests he will be back in the side.

The Chelsea Chronicle are expecting Benoit Badiashile to be back in the starting XI too, likely seeing Wesley Fofana drop to the bench.
