The latest Premier League transfer rumours - with new stories from Arsenal, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and more.
Another day of gossip has passed and we’re now less than 72 hours away from the end of the January transfer window – and to make sure you’re across all the latest stories, we’re back with our regular morning round-up of all the biggest and wildest new Premier League transfer rumours, starting with a story for the Arsenal fans reading.
According to TeamTalk, Arsenal are “preparing to escalate” their push to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez having already “registered their interest” with the player’s camp – and could now offer two players in part-exchange.
Both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have been earmarked as “potential makeweights” in a player-plus-cash deal for the former Manchester City man, and the club are said to be “exploring” the terms of a possible bid, with the player likely to be keen to move as he grows “frustrated” under Diego Simeone.
There’s no word on what Atléti would demand from Arsenal to allow Álvarez to leave, nor on when such a deal might take place, but it is said that the Gunners could face competition from both Chelsea and PSG, who have also been offered the chance to enter the bidding by the player’s representatives.
The 3AM Verdict: There have been so many stories about Arsenal’s alleged interest in Álvarez that we almost have no choice but to believe them at this point, even if the most reliable sources have yet to corroborate it – in any case, we can’t believe that this is a transfer which takes place prior to the summer. But it’s still one to watch, whenever it might happen.
Nottingham Forest enter bidding for Newcastle target
Let’s move on to a quick story from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Nottingham Forest have “asked” Inter Milan to sign Italy international Davide Frattesi on loan for the rest of the current season.
The 26-year-old midfielder has long been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but there are no indications as yet that a bid will be forthcoming from St. James’ Park, which could leave the way clear for Forest to seal something of a coup.
There would apparently be a purchase option included in the deal, although Romano doesn’t tell us how big it might be. The decision is now said to be in the hands of the player, implying that Inter will accept Forest’s offer.
The 3AM Verdict: Frattesi is a fine player who has slipped down the pecking order for club and country after a difficult 18 months – but the right change of scenery could easily turn him into a shrewd signing. We don’t currently expect Newcastle to act on their interest, but it exists and there’s always a chance of a late change of heart.
Crystal Palace could bid for struggling West Ham star
We’ll finish things up with a story from Football Insider, which claims that Crystal Palace are “on high alert” over the possibility of signing West Ham centre-back Max Kilman as a replacement for the departed Marc Guéhi.
Apparently Palace have “had eyes on” Kilman for a little while now, and it’s speculated that Kilman could be displaced by new signings such as Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, paving the way for his exit – with Selhurst Park a likely destination.
Kilman is “not rated” by current manager Nuno Espirito Santo, it’s suggested, but there’s no word on what they might demand for him in the transfer market. Kilman arrived at the London Stadium in 2024 for a hefty £40m fee, which at least provides something resembling a guide price.
The 3AM Verdict: This article is pure speculation with absolutely nothing to back it up – it’s just a completely unsourced guess without any evidence presented in its favour. As such, we’re dismissing it as just another piece of grist from the rumour mill.
