According to one club insider, Everton have now spoken to Man City, but there is no option to send Grealish back to the Etihad Stadium.
Everton are, therefore, going to have to pay the remainder of Grealish’s wages for the season.
It is just typical of how Everton’s season has gone so far.
There is a belief that Everton are still keen to sign Grealish permanently, if they are able to secure his services for around £25m.
Questions will now be asked as to whether they should sign a player set to turn 31, who has suffered from numerous injuries this term.
Everton should not sign Grealish permanently
Grealish made an electric start to the campaign having taken four assists from his opening three games in the Premier League.
Since, he has added another two and scored twice. For a player earning such significant wages, there is a feeling that he should have offered more.
Moyes is a huge fan of Grealish, but a permanent move would have to make financial sense for Everton.
A fan favourite among many, Grealish has certainly added a lot of character to this side.
However, Everton may well feel that they could get a similar return from another player earning significantly less money than the 30-year-old.
