Max Dowman has committed his immediate future to Arsenal by signing a scholarship contract.

At 15 years and 234 days, he became the second-youngest player to represent the Gunners and the second-youngest to play in the Premier League, with Ethan Nwaneri, currently on loan with Marseille, holding both records.

Now having turned 16,he has graduated from schoolboy to scholar status, with the next step him earning his first professional contract when he passes his 17th birthday.

Dowman has made five senior appearances this season but has recently spent a period out with an ankle injury, although he is expected to be fit again shortly.

Regarded as one of the most sought after young players in European football, securing Dowman’s continued service is a huge boost to Arsenal, and underlines their commitment to give players who come through their Hale End academy system first-team opportunities.

Two more of those, Brando Bailey-Joseph, who is 17, and 18-year old Ife Ibrahim, were both handed first-team debuts in the Champions League against Kairat last week.
