With just four days left in the winter transfer window, Liverpool could still make a significant signing or sanction major departures before the market closes.

So far, their only January addition has been Mor Talla Ndiaye, who joined the under-21s from Amitie FC in Senegal. Other incomings have come via loan recalls, including Lewis Koumas (Birmingham City), James Balagizi (Forest Green Rovers), and Owen Beck (Derby County).

Outgoings have been limited, with Luke Chambers moving to Charlton Athletic on loan and James Norris joining Shelbourne permanently.

Injuries, including the latest setback to Jeremie Frimpong, have intensified speculation. Liverpool have been linked with Dayot Upamecano, whose Bayern Munich contract expires this summer, as well as Jeremy Jacquet, while Brighton youngster Brajan Gruda has expressed hopes of joining a club like Liverpool.

Liverpool have contacted Inter Milan over a deal for Denzel Dumfries following Jeremie Frimpong’s injury. The Reds, reigning champions, currently sit sixth in the Premier League but have reached the Champions League last 16.

Arne Slot’s side have struggled with injuries all season, and after Frimpong picked up a new hamstring issue against Qarabag, the club are seeking a late transfer market move.

The Reds, meanwhile, earlier in the window completed the signing of 19-year-old defender Noah Adekoya from Burnley. Adekoya rose through Burnley’s youth ranks, captained the U18s to the Professional Development League North title, and signed his first professional contract last year.

Adekoya makes his debut for Liverpool U21s this evening against Brighton & Hove Albion, starting in Rob Page’s XI for the 7pm GMT Premier League 2 kick-off. Liverpool U21s: Pecsi, Davidson, Pinnington, Adekoya, Scanlon, Kelly, Morrison, Pilling, Figueroa, Laffey, Kone-Doherty. Subs: Onanuga, Misciur, Pitt, W. Wright, Bradshaw.
