Inter Milan have made a move for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, late in the winter market.
That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio. He reports the Serie A side are pursuing a move for the midfielder due to Davide Frattesi’s situation.
Nottingham Forest are making advances to sign Frattesi. Faced with the possibility of his impending exit, Inter are focusing on the Liverpool player.
Di Marzio claims the England international has accepted their financial proposal and gave his approval to the Serie A side for a loan move.
The Reds need to give the green light to conclude this operation. The journalist claims the Nerazzurri are in ‘ongoing talks’ with Arne Slot’s side to bring the 25-year-old to the San Siro.
Gazzetta dello Sport also cover the latest on the Italian club’s efforts to try and sign him before Monday’s deadline.
Jones has been a regular for the Premier League side this season. To put it in context, he played 1,686 minutes from 29 matches in all competitions. This shows he’s part of Slot’s plans at Anfield.
Despite this, Inter are pursuing because the player ‘himself has asked to leave’ the Merseyside club. The newspaper claims the San Siro club have an agreement in place with him. It’s now down to them to convince Liverpool, who are resisting.
On Friday, Di Marzio reported Liverpool approached Inter to ask for information about Denzel Dumfries following Jeremie Frimpong’s injury.
Gazzetta points this out and add that Liverpool asked about the Dutchman during the talks for Jones’ loan transfer. According to them, Dumfries moving in the opposite direction won’t be key the midfielder’s arrival in Italy.
As things stand, Jones has an agreement in place with Inter. Liverpool are resisting and Gazzetta insist ‘we’ll know more in the next few hours’. In other words, the coming hours could be key for Jones’ exit before Monday’s deadline.
